The avalanche failed on a layer of weak faceted snow left over from January. It's a shallow, steep, rocky area where the snowpack is weaker than most snow in the Wasatch Range. It broke just below the summit of Kessler Peak and descended about halfway to the highway in the Argenta slidepath. Matt Klick took the photo with my camera.
