Important Notice

Due to excessive insurance costs and lack of funding, we are not currently able to offer public courses on our own, but offer a full schedule of courses through other organizations. We are happy to set up courses for goverment and industrial crews, and for any organizations or communities that have or can arrange their own insurance and permits.

This information is provided as general background on our courses and as an indication of what we could do again with adequate funding.

Custom Courses

We do a number of custom, professional, industrial, and crew training courses every year. We can develop customized curriculum and teach courses at any level.

Awareness presentations are easy to set up. We charge $150 per presentation, plus travel expenses. In some years, there is funding available so we can do these talks for free, check with us.

If you want to organize a field course, contact us early. If you have the insurance and permits, organize a group, and collect payment up front, we will schedule it as we are able to, on a first-come-first served basis, and you as organizer will get a discount if you wish to attend.

The government and corporate rate for custom courses is a flat $210 per hour, charged for teaching time only, plus expenses. We offer a discounted rate of $150 per hour to nonprofits and community courses. Rates for longer in-depth training programs are negotiable.

Courses of Level 1 and higher require very specific site qualities. We have good locations in Juneau, Petersburg, and Haines, but are reluctant to take these courses to other communities in Southeast Alaska unless we have well-proven sites there. Our recommendation is that you consider traveling to a community where we already put on the best possible course.
