Question: Coverage for the Olympics?

Heard rumor that there was going to be a significant shortage of both SAR/Avi dogs to cover for the 2002 Winter Olympics. Stated that the local avi dogs just weren't going to be able to cover all the area's necessary, safely.

Did they ever come to a decision as to what was going to be done? Next thing I heard is that they were going to call in Task Force (disaster teams) to help provide avi rescue services...now, I can see this from the TF teams in the western parts of the US that have dogs that may be cross-trained in disaster/avi, but are the handlers trained in avi rescue?

Any insight from those of you in the heart of it and what have you heard?

Just curious...
