My name is Shep Snow and I run a new school called "The Snow School,Inc".  I offer Level I and II recreational courses in the North Idaho and Eastern Washington areas.  My school also offers Outdoor Emergency Care courses.

My school E-mail is snowschl@micron.net and telephone is (208) 263-3552.

I have instructed basic and advanced avalanche for the NSP since 1988. I also was the director of the Army's mountaineering school in Alaska for two years in the late 1980's where hazard identification and route selection were daily fare.  I attended NAS, the Alaska Mountain Safety Center avalanche workshop and ISSW.  I am currently a full member of AAAP and a member of the NSP National Avalanche Board. I hope to teach courses nearly every week this winter.  I have tailored my courses, and try to fill them, by group activity. What I mean is that I try to group folks into the following categories backcountry skiers and travellers, off piste alpine and snowboard and snowmobilers.   Most of my courses are open to all "species", although some are specifically targeted for activity groups.  This is all I do, so I am available to schedule other course on request.

I have the following courses (all are Level I) scheduled for January

7-10 January -         Snowmobile course             Lookout Pass, ID

11-18 January          Snowmobile course             Idaho Falls, ID

22-23 January          Skiers and snowboarders    Sandpoint, ID

29-30 January          Open group course              Sandpoint, ID
