Summary: 2 snowmobilers caught, 1 partly buried, 1 buried and killed

On Sunday afternoon, April 3, a couple had arrived ahead of friends and were out snowmobiling in the Summit Lake area while others arrived. A snowmobile rider climbed the east face of Courage Mountain while his wife waited at the bottom. The rider triggered a hard slab avalanche that caught him, then hit and buried his wife about 6 feet. Others in the area arrived soon afterwards. She was located by transceiver and dug free within 25-30 minutes. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
