Thiswillbea15minuteoralpresentation,withslides,
describing theprocedures employed at Mike WiegeleHeli-
copterSkiing.MWHS is located in the Columbia Moun-
tains of British Colombia and covers approximately 5000sq.
mi.. During highseason the operation utilizes the observa-
tions from 7 helicopters, 20 guides, 3 weather stations and
researchers from the University of Calgary as well as infor-
mationfromtheCAAinfo/ex.andweatherforecastto
prepare theiravalanchestability rating.

I will try to explain why and how each of these items in-
fluence theforecaster and howthe forecasterisused by
theguides in choosingappropriate skiingterrain.Slides
will be used to highlight or demonstrate particular aspects
of the procedure. I will be happy to answer any questions
regarding the presentation at that time.
