How You can Help:
- Join as a member, and consider sending in an additional contribution if you can. Individual Center memberships are $35 per year, family memberships $50, and corporate, business, agency, or group memberships are $100. We are a 501(c)3 educational nonprofit corporation, so contributions to us are tax-deductible. Make checks out to Southeast Alaska Avalanche Center and send them to us at PO Box 20578, Juneau, AK 99802 or use the PayPal payment option online.
- Volunteer for field or office work. We are not forecasting this winter but we are continuing our research work. We need field assistants to help us so we can work safely and gather the necessary data. You'll learn a lot and have some fun too. We need help with the office work it takes to keep the Center running, with posting additional educational material on the website, and we can always use help with fundraising. Contact us here.
- Take action. We cannot urge you to act on our behalf to help us get funding without involving ourselves in the extensive IRS paperwork hassles associated with lobbying activities, but our Urban Avalanche Forecasting Budget Information Page and the links from the action bar at the top of this page provide you all the information you would need about the requirements and budgets of avalanche forecasting programs, and what you might do if you should decide to act on your own.
- Donate miles. We are seeking mileage donations to help send our field assistant Mike Janes and apprentice forecaster Kent Scheler to the American Avalanche Association's AvPro professionals' course in Utah this December.
