| 02-02-05 Juneau Rounds
We did the Juneau Rounds today, our standard transect of the urban paths. We saw no natural releases other than one small R2D2 size slide to 80 m on T011 Snowlside Creek, above Thane Road, that appeared to be from the warm weather of the 30th to 31st. The forecast additional heavy snowfall has not come, the snowpack has been settling as fast as the light new snowfall has accumulated today, and the NE winds have not yet come. Windloaded snow from the SE winds at ridgetop level earlier today has probably created some tender areas, but we do not yet have the heavy snowfall, wind transport, or thaw to trigger a cycle of natural avalanche releases. The weaknesses in the snowpack remain, but the stress in areas not recently windloaded should be decreasing. |

| Small natural release on T011 Snowslide Creek path above Thane Road from several days ago. The starting zone was not visible, so the amount of snow accumulation there could only be estimated. | |||||
