natural and triggered wind slabs


Looking at Naomi Peak from the northeast, you can see evidence of a broad but fairly shallow natural wind slab avalanche from 3-31-08.


I was able to trigger this small ridge-top wind slab by kicking off small cornice chunks.


The slab didn't run very far but might have on a steeper slope.


We noticed a nice sun dog, shown here above natural cracking from during yesterday's storm.
