                      When lots of heavy snow stacks up on weak snow, natural avalanches are likely.

                             

 

 

                                            This avalanche on a short road bank, was almost 2 feet deep and 35 feet wide.

                               

 

 

          This avalanche, just down the road, broke on weak sugary snow after a couple feet of heavy moist snow accumulated on this steep mid elevation slope.

                               

 

 

                             This one pulled out low on the sheltered 7300' east facing slope, leaving lots of snow on the slope above.

                              

                   The avalanche was close to two feet deep and about 90 feet wide.  The deposition piled up deeply in the gully below.
