Rock-fall avalanche at Tony Grove Lake

                                            A rock fall triggered wet snow avalanche on the west side of Tony Grove Lake.

 

 

                                

                             Over seven inches of water fell in the Tony Grove Area before Halloween, and moist freeze-thaw conditions,

                                like those in the first week in November, are ripe for rock fall

   

 

                                   

                                               A large chunk of limestone rests on top of a moist pile of snow and mud deposition.

 

 

                                    

                                A wet pile of mixed earth and snow  covers recent snowshoe tracks on the west side of Tony Grove Lake.
