Garden City Canyon Avalanche 2-4-06 (Pictures taken 2-6-06)

A shot from the top of the ridge with the crown outlined in red.

Slide was about 200-250' wide and ran about 300 vertical feet.

Crown was 12-18" deep when triggered, but has since settled to about a foot.

New snow overnight (2-5-06) makes it a bit difficult to see the crown.

Another photo showing the extent of the crown.  Photo was taken from the right flank.

A profile of the crown showing the sun crust the slide failed on.

The slide was triggered from a nearby easterly facing slope that had a weak facet layer synonymous with the crust layer in the photo.
